So the take home message is this; it can be easy for the 6 weeks’ summer holidays to cause overall long term weight gain, both for us and our children. 

In a short space of time we could be causing long term problems for both ourselves and our kids with flippancy toward healthy eating habits and an active lifestyle, just because "it's the summer holidays".

Routine plays a massive role in keeping us on track. The next time the holidays hit, aim to keep some structure to the day, it'll help to embed healthy habits, but also help us to be mindful of enjoying the school holidays as a family without completely scuppering our overall long term health.

Sounds obvious I know. 

Sadly, to many it isn't. 

Be active, and eat in TRUE balance and moderation.
