What Are The BIGGEST Pitfalls On Your Diet? 3 Ways To Avoid Them

Sometimes, your diet is not all it’s cracked up to be… It turns out that fad you read about is not true, and you’ve just become a guinea pig for a diet that was never going to work in the first place. So what are the warning signs you should look out for? Here are three pointers.

It’s not common sense

No matter how little you actually know about food, common sense prevails and you would have a good idea about what works and doesn’t work.

If you read that you should eat lean meats and avoid wheat because your blood type is O, and that is the best way for you to lose weight (even though it’s not scientifically proven), then chances are someone is telling porky pies.

Beyond that, anything claiming to “make you feel like a new person” is probably exaggerating. Do some Google research and use your common sense, to figure it out.

Results of the diet are explained in vague terms

Always remember when it comes to outlandish claims, they’re completely subjective and can’t be tested. If a product claims to “bring you in line with your true self,” then chances are it won’t actually do anything whatsoever.

The people who write these claims are always the ones profiting from it, so take everything said about dieting with a pinch of salt.

Diet pills

The use of powders, pills, or both are emphasised

When it comes to big metaphorical warning lights, any diet that asks you to focus solely on powders and pills is a big one!

Supplementing a diet of food with protein powder is more than okay, we actively encourage it – but the problem with these crazy concoctions is the use of separated and processed whole foods.

In a powder, you’re probably only getting a teaspoon or tablespoon of the goodness of that food compared to actually having the food.
