Can you lose weight by meal prepping?

By pre-preparing all your meals beforehand, this ensures you don’t reach for the “wrong” foods when you’re hungry or tired, for example high fat, salty and processed foods, and can help control portion sizes. Cooking healthy foods, tracking calorie intake and making sure you are in a calorie deficit are the best ways in which to lose weight, but meal prepping is a great helping hand.

What is Caribbean food famous for?

The tropical islands that make up the Caribbean are known for their colourful, fresh flavours and magical blends of hot herbs and spices, mixed with softer flavours such as coconut and plantain. A fusion of European, African and Cajun flavours, Caribbean cuisine also incorporates fresh fish and sea food into the mix, as well as chicken, lamb and goat.

Jerk seasoning, AKA the fiery flavouring of Jamaica, tastes great smothered over chicken thighs and breast, but be warned, it’s not for the faint hearted! Rice and peas is a simple and delicious side dish to jerk chicken and is so quick and easy to prepare. Plantain, similar to a banana in looks and texture, makes for a delicious snack when fried, but eat sparingly if you are watching you waistline!

Is Caribbean food healthy?

Many staple foods in the Caribbean and African diet are good for health, from leafy green vegetables to fresh mango, to beans, there are lots of nutrient rich choices. However traditional foods which are fried or have high levels of salt and fat should be limited, so it’s important to have everything in moderation.

A meal such as jerk chicken breast with rice and peas is high in protein and low in calories, perfect for lunch or dinner to keep you powering through the day.
