A LITTLE BIT MORE...

Ostrich meat is often said to be the healthiest red meat available. It allows meat lovers to enjoy the occasional burger without the fat and cholesterol found in other red meat.

Our free range ostrich comes straight from the arid plains of Klein Karoo region of South Africa, who produce 85% of the world’s ostrich meat.

Compared with beef, ostrich has lower fat, lower cholesterol and less saturated fat it's also higher protein content and has lower collagen content which is characteristic of juicy and tender meat.

It’s even been awarded the Heart Mark from the South African Heart & Stroke Foundation!

Ostrich meat is normally a little darker and, similar to game, it has a low fat content and little intramuscular fat (Ostriches store their fat under their skin!) so it’s a great choice for people watching their waistlines because it’s also lower in cholesterol than other red meats.

This plus the higher iron content makes it a fantastic choice for people with a more active lifestyle.

Cook over a high heat for a short period of time so that it doesn’t dry out, season after cooking so that the salt doesn’t draw moisture away from the meat when cooking.
