Healthy Mulled Wine

Love a marvellous mulled wine at Christmas time? Liam Miller from themusclecook.com shows us an amazing recipe for a healthy mulled wine (…healthy-ish – it’s still got wine in, but you won’t see any refined sugar in this delicious drink).

Ingredients

  • 1 x 750ml bottle of red wine
  • 3 x cups of water
  • 1/4 cup of raisins
  • 5 x whole cloves
  • 2 x cinnamon sticks
  • 2 x cardamom pods
  • 5 x allspice berries
  • 1 x chunk of ginger, sliced and smashed
  • 2 x oranges, wedged
  • 1 x lemon, quartered

Method:


  1. In a saucepan on medium-high heat, boil the water with honey, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, allspice and ginger for 15 minutes.
  2. Turn down the heat to low and add the wine.
  3. Add the orange wedges and lemon quarters, while stirring.
  4. Continue to heat the mix for another 10-15 minutes.
  5. Pour in to cider cups, garnish as you wish (Liam chose to use cinnamon sticks) and enjoy!
