Hoisin Stir Fried Beef


Ingredients

  • 200g lean sirloin steaks, sliced across the grain and trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • 1 tsp fresh root ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 large carrot, cut into matchsticks
  • 100g mangetout, halved
  • 140g mushrooms,chopped
  • 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dry sherry
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Noodles to serve

Method:


  1. In a small bowl, mix the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sherry and sesame oil.
  2. Add the cut sirloin and marinate for 20min.
  3. In a wok, or deep frying pan, add the sesame seeds and toast for 3-5min or until golden brown before putting them onto a plate.
  4. Heat the olive oil in the wok or frying pan until hot then add the steak and marinade and stir-fry for 3 min.
  5. Remove meat from pan but leave the juices.
  6. Add the carrots and stir-fry for 2 min before adding mangetout for a further 2 min.
  7. Add the steak and mushrooms and toss together.
  8. Mix in the hoisin sauce and stir-fry for 1 min.
  9. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve on noodles.
