That amazing feeling when you wake up after a deep, restful and simply blissful night’s rest is probably one of the best in the world, but for many gym goers up and down the country it’s merely a fantasy.

In fact, a recent study by the National Sleep Foundation showed that almost half of the adults polled believed they rarely, if ever, got a good night’s sleep.

This may explain, then, why so many people are groggy and grumpy during their early morning gym sessions and why these baggy eyed zombie folk have trouble making the most of their workouts…

Sleep, you see, is essential for helping your body “repair, recharge and regrow… It’s the ideal time to replenish nutrients, and, since your body isn’t moving, it allows muscles to repair themselves,” say Dr. Felecia Stoler.

Essentially – no sleep = dopey, sleepy, sneezy and grumpy – that’s four out of the seven dwarves!

But seriously, you only workout out for an hour or two in the day, you should be sleeping for seven or eight – it’s simple maths.

So, if drifting off (and staying in snoozeville) is a challenge for you, try these 6 simple tweaks to guarantee slumber…
