Liam Davis Transformation Interview

Looking at Liam now you’d never believe that just five years ago he tipped the scales at a life-threatening 21 stone. He was only 20 years old at the time.

Now 25, and a father-to-be, Liam is reaping to rewards of years of hard work and a determination to not only transform his physique, but overhaul his mental attitude and general outlook on life.


Tell us a bit about your story and who you are

As a teenager, I played basketball for 2-3 years before quitting to go into full time college studying hospitality and catering. This was the start of my downfall.

I completed the 2 years and never bothered getting back into basketball, which really didn’t help. It all went downhill fast, as I was packing on the weight and eating myself into depression.

I used to eat countless rustle burgers, pasties, sweets, and chocolate and drink nothing but monster and Dr Pepper.  Eventually it got to a point that, for about a year, I would eat 2 large kebabs, 2 large chips and 12 cans of Dr pepper as well as the meals that my mum had made at home and snacks in between.

At that point in time, I wasn't physically or mentally fit, which progressively got worse.  I ended up at a ridiculous 21 stone at the age of 20 in 2013.

Being fat was never easy or enjoyable.

What triggered your transformation?

I have a brother who is 3 years older than me. He has always been athletic and in shape regardless of what he ate. He had a massive impact on triggering my transformation, and although I didn’t like that he constantly called me fat and told me to go to the gym and lose weight, I really do thank him for this.

Just to get him off my back for a day or two, I told him I would go to the gym. When that didn't happen, he just kept pushing and pushing until I caved.

He kicked my ass day in day out whatever the weather pushing me to become a better me.

What did you do to transform/change?

I started by going to the gym for a couple of minutes and then resting for a few days due to being so achy. Slowly, I started going more and more until I was going every day of the week and only sometimes resting on weekends; it became something I really enjoyed and wanted to do. On the diet side, I started by just cutting out fizzy drinks, chocolate, sweets and takeaways.
