What Happens To Your Body If You Skip Breakfast

Breakfast

Breakfast is “the most important meal of the day,” yes? YES! It helps fire up your metabolism. Kicks your brain into gear thus encouraging you to be productive at work and, for many, it’s the most enjoyable meal too.

But wolfing down a wholesome, nutritious and scrumptious breakfast isn’t always easy. Hell, even fitting in some semblance of a healthy morning routine can be somewhat of a challenge.

More often than not, you’ve about 5 minutes to get showered, changed, eat AND get on the daily commute to work.

So, you pour a cup of coffee into a travel mug – because it’s so much easier than actually making something to eat, and god forbid you eat an “on-the-go” option filled with who-knows-what – and be on your way relying on caffeine to fuel your morning.

Come 11am, you’re dead on your feet, pouring your 4th cuppa and are already clock watching to go home.

However, when digging through the latest studies into breakfast, Muscle Food found some information that may just motivate you to swap your 10 minute snooze for wholesome meal prep…

1. Watch Your Ticker

A study published in the Journal of Nutritional Science found that overweight people who skipped brekki generally lost fat BUT they had much higher cholesterol than those eating frosted flakes.

However, a different study published recently showed that too much sugar is one of the biggest factors in heart disease – meaning those frosted flakes may be worse that flaking all together.

Better stick with something wholesome like porridge instead…
