We all know that sugar itself isn’t the demon food it’s made out to be.  It can provide your body with a quick energy release, it can curb any sweet cravings and it tastes pretty wonderful too.

However, eat too much of it, and your health, waistline and mental health could all suffer.

But these alarming figures are not attributable to people grabbing a teaspoon and getting stuck into the sugar bowl, rather it’s down to the hidden added sugar to food.

This means it’s not just those of you with a sweet tooth that’s overindulging.

Of course, it is absolutely fine for you to have that chocolate bar or pack of sweets on occasion – it really isn’t going to do you any harm – but, for your own health, it is important to be aware of just how much sugar you’re consuming on a daily basis.

In large quantities, it isn’t your friend, so, if you find yourself eating too much then it’s time to banish it from your diet – yep that means counting how many teaspoons you put into your morning cuppa and reading labels.
