UKAS Certified Nutritional Testing

Testing of our products is undertaken by a UKAS accredited laboratory in accordance with the requirements ISO/IEC 17025.

Lab Tested & CertifiedEvery steak, every burger, every sausage, every chicken breast is not created equal. You could simply be paying for FAT!

But even more shocking, the nutritional information presented to you could  be 'calculated' or 'best guess' and those burgers you are enjoying could have completly different macros to what you have been told!

That is why Muscle Food is dedicated to testing every single product via a UKAS Certified Laboratory to give you the most accurate nutritionals possible.

If a product is tested, you will see the UKAS logo below the product.

How Do Better Nutritionals Impact Price?

Muscle Food is, and always will be fantastic value! On many items we are priced lower than supermarkets but even when we are not, this is usually due to the VALUE on offer.

For example, a 20g fat sausage is going to be a lot cheaper to produce than a 0.7g fat sausage made of 100% chicken breast. Or a 5g chicken sausage made from thigh, cartilage, off cuts. 

Let's compare our much copied Hache steak with a 'competitor':

No. Ask them for a UKAS Accredited Laboratory Test of their nutritional information and many won't be able to provide anything - they simply have not tested them.

Muscle Food started testing it's products when we set out on a journey to create the lowest fat chicken sausage in the UK!

We was amazed to get GUARANTEED correct nutriitonals from many suppliers, all at such varying cost prices - so we independently laboratory tested the products. The variance was astonishing from 1g fat per sausage to 10g fat per sausage - despite everyone claiming they had hit our nutritionals.

This is why, despite the cost and the longer lead times, we are dedicated to testing all of our products.

What Is A UKAS Accredited Laboratory?

Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of evaluators. 

The laboratory that Muscle Food uses for the majority of our range is also approved by M&S, Tesco and is DEFRA (ABPR Regs 2011) Authorised. With any testing, there can be variances in the results, but the accuracy of any independent laboratory results, without a doubt, achieves an higher level of accuracy than any 'calculated' or 'guesstimate' nutritionals.
